AN AFTERSHAVE IN COLOGNE
THe ‘KEN’ project (named after Barbie’s bisexual boyfriend) was recently established by four individual female artists who all live in Amsterdam:
Kleo was brought up in her early life by her Egyptian father in a traveling gypsy circus. After watching her father get torn to shreds by lions at the age of 14 she returned to the south of France to live with her mother where she used her inspirations to make abstract contemporary artworks
Maoma was a modern dance choreographer in northern Italy before she lost three toes in a bizarre boat accident. With her dance career ruined she turned her creative attention to sewing and toy making and has turned ‘MAOMALAND’ into a huge success story.
Minivila was a direct descendant of the Italian royal family before a lot of people really wanted to kill them and her ancestors fled to Yugoslavia. A former cabaret singer and dog-walker she has now moved on to a life of painting, performance and songwriting.
Not many people can claim to have been grought up by bears in the Black Forest in Germany and, sadly, that didnt happen for Ovni either. However, her one-man punk band was a huge hit in Spain before they split up and she moved to Holland to follow a career in painting surrealistic geometric shapes.
Each new show the ladies freestyle different ideas looking to induce the public into a visual cocktail of energy, performance and site-specific installation.
Dont be scared…………Ken and the puppies are coming to town!
From 15th October till 19th November in the ArtyFarty Gallery.
